Tortillas in Space: A Culinary Journey Beyond Earth

Have you ever imagined the aroma of freshly made tortillas wafting through the vastness of space? Well, thanks to Mexican astronaut Rodolfo Neri, tortillas have become an essential component of NASA’s alimentary plan in space!

Rodolfo Neri, with a proud connection to his Mexican roots, made a special request to bring tortillas on his mission. In the depths of space, he enjoyed tacos made from tortillas and salt, to accompany his meals. Soon, the rest of the crew got seduced by the soft and warm tortillas’ special flavor.   

What started as a personal request quickly became a shared delight among the space crew. NASA got interested in tortillas thanks to the practicality of their transportation, which don’t create crumbs like bread, along with the nutritional value of corn, soon NASA added tortillas into their basic alimentary program in space.  

Now, our Mexican treasure, tortillas, travel beyond borders and even Earth, allowing astronauts to savor an exquisite and heartwarming salt taco while exploring space!
